Fletcher Group and Donor Alliance Take Home Gold Leaf Awards

As part of our work with our client Donor Alliance, we were honored to take home two awards from the 2018 Colorado Healthcare Communicators Gold Leaf Awards. The Gold Leaf Awards recognize the best in healthcare communications, marketing and public relations. Entries come from across the state as Colorado Healthcare Communicators is the only member organization that exclusively honors local healthcare communicators and marketing professionals.

Recognized for our work on two Donor Alliance initiatives, we earned awards in two categories.

Community Relations: The Show Your Heart Project

In the community relations category, we took home a Silver Leaf Award for our contributions to Donor Alliance’s 2018 “Show Your Heart Project” during National Donate Life Month, which falls each year in April. The goal of the project was to inspire organ, eye and tissue donation in Colorado and Wyoming through hidden hearts. Paid advertising, media relations, an engaged social media following and Donor Alliance’s network of volunteers, hospitals and other community groups were utilized to deliver relevant messages and real donation and transplantation stories to Colorado and Wyoming residents.

Most of the goals for the overall campaign were exceeded. For our part, we were able to secure 124 pieces of local media coverage during the month-long campaign and helped to increase traffic to the donor registration websites, which most importantly, contributed to an increase in the donor designation rate, or the percentage of residents joining the state registries, by two full percentage points year-over-year.

Large Event – Over 200 Attendees: 2018 Donor Dash

In the large event category, we snagged a second Silver Leaf Award for our work on Donor Alliance’s annual signature event, the Donor Dash. With more than 5,000 attendees each year, the goal of the Donor Dash is to spread awareness of and celebrate organ, eye and tissue donation. For our part, leading up to the race, we were able to secure 42 total pieces of local media coverage, including 9 interviews for Donor Alliance advocates and help increase web traffic by drafting engaging content. The event was a huge success, breaking the previous race attendance record by nearly 10 percent with 6,400 attendees.
